Falling in love with birds

As you probably read on my art blog (helldg.blogspot.com), if not, you can check my whining there, last year I did not create much but was taking many pictures of birds and flowers. To add to my whining that our computers crashed a few times last year, but I was able to save some of them. I am not taking easy hot weather here, but I am falling in love with birds watching. Good Morning,

We had some rains last week so, I tried to take a picture of the rain drop on the window and some trees on the back. My camera was keep focusing on trees and not on a window, driving me crazy, grrr... but I did it :) Then on Sunday we had nice sunny day, it was chilly but nice.

I am not sure what this bird is as we have eagles and hawks here, so, it can be anyone. It is a close up as much as possible, if anyone knows the difference.

Ladies, thank you very much for identifying the bird! I google it and learn some new things, thank you!

Judi, the camera those particular pictures were taken with, is SONY Cyber_shot DSC-h20. It has pretty decent characteristics for the price.

I recently had a computer crash and lost all pictures and files, and so and on.
But I am back, you love it or not :)
And now I have 2 external backup drive (backup for backup), you can say that I am getting paranoid :) Better 2 drives that sorry as long as I will keep moving files there.

This picture was taken in the Natural History Museum, part of Smithsonian, Washington, DC

This one is from Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, same place. It is between Natural Museum and Art Museum. This sculpture just made me smile. Some of the sculptures I just did not get it, but it is OK :)

This one was taken in Jamestown, VA. Kids had fun and learned a lot. They told that they learned here in the museum town more than in school :)

There is one more place I want to share we visited. It is in Alexandria, VA. It is called Torpedo factory. They used to make torpedoes here but it is not a fascinating fact that I wanted to share :) This factory is converted into studios for artist to work there, display there work and you can talk to "live" artists. They have painting, sculptures, photography, fiber art, sumi-e painting, beading, etc, etc studios. I am including the link to Torpedo Factory if you will have a time to take a look, but if you will be in the area, I would really think it would be a great place to visit. It is an absolutely unique experience comparing to just galleries visiting.

Linda, I am sorry, but I do not know whose this nest is, no tricks :)
The fish is Beta something and we've been told that it is not live alone with some other fishes, so, she or he swimming alone in the tank next to the tank with golden fishes.

Sorry, I did not mean to mistify you. This summer I was treating deck ( did not finish yet) with some water resisting staff :) and when the snow we had earlier this year was melting the water from melting snow was not going into the wood and drops were on a top and it was very interesting to see them and I snapped a few picture.
It is pretty cold here now and we still have snow and ice :)

From the trees, see how sparkling all those branches are! I hope you can see something. When the sun was shining (for a few little seconds) all this ice was sparkling like diamonds and ground was cover also!

We did have a bear visiting us this summer, so when this morning I looked int the kitchen window and saw this head, I thought that the bear is back, I even did not think it is time for them to go have some rest :) but then when it did not move for some time, I realize that it is a log, closeout picture of which is right below. :)
